MEMORY FAIR
Saturday May 4th
INK Gallery
Memory Fair—an engaging blend of immersive technology and nostalgic reminiscence. A free project exploring local memories - to inspire a new immersive artwork.
Join us for a free taster session where you'll discover accessible new technologies while delving into cherished memories. Meet community artist, Thomas Buckley, and digital technologist, Livi Wilmore, who will guide you through immersive experiences including:
-
Photogrammetry: Transform your sentimental objects into life like 3D models using just your mobile phone. Bring along a treasured item and witness it transform into a digital render through 3D scanning!
-
3D Modeling: Unleash your creativity with an intuitive online program, where you can craft intricate 3D shapes and forms.
In addition to these immersive technology workshops, Memory Fair will host experimental drop-in sessions - offering new ways to reminisce. Step into our Sensory Remembering Station, where the art of perfumery meets memory. Or, use play-doh and expressive arts alongside analogue recording to craft your very own 'memory mix tape'.The memories we collect and conversations we have will inspire the creation of a new artwork and exhibition to be hosted in INK later in the year. Visit the Memory Fair for a chance to have your memory of ‘eating chips on the pier’ or ‘running home from school in the rain’ inspire an exhibition of local stories.
OPEN CALL - £250 Artist Fee
APPLY NOW
As part of MEMORY FAIR We are launching a micro-commissioning programme for local artists. We’re looking for local emerging artists and students to come up with a creative pitch to design an artwork that is inspired by memory and technology. This could be an image, a film, a game, and app, an augmented reality piece, or anything that explores memory and technology. We'd like you to be inspired by your own memory of Colwyn Bay. You will then be given the guidance to explore future tech to support your idea if required.
We are particularly interested in applications from creatives who’ve attended our Memory Fair event and learnt about how to use a new technology or process. Artists awarded with funding will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at INK later in the year.
If selected you will receive a £250 artist fee and a mentorship session with lead artists Thomas Buckley and Livi Wimore.
